The Natural History Museum Rijeka and the Croatian Natural History Museum in Zagreb published a book by Nikola Tvrtković, which discovers night-active, mysterious, almost mystical creatures - bats. Although, according to the author, bats are the closest animals to humans and make up more than a third of the total number of mammals, the level of knowledge about them is still insufficient, so people still kill them today out of superstition or fear. Since only ten biologists in the Croatian scientific community deal with bats, in this practical handbook in pocket format, written in popular scientific language and adapted to a wider readership in a simple style, the author, in accordance with the recommendations of the European Agreement on the Protection of Bats (UNEP/EUROBATS), has given a great contribution to improving knowledge about bats and their protection.
